New shovel/transmission costs?

Can anyone ballpark what a new retro type shovel and 5/6 speed transmission setup would cost?

Trying to figure out the cost of buying another bike and selling this one to installing a new shovel engine and transmission.

I found a 98 Fatboy, 95yr anniver. bike with 21k on the odometer for a asking price of 11k. Im trying to weigh that bike vs. one day, a few years down the road, putting in the above engine/transmission setup

The only real retro Shovelhead engine that I know about is the S&S. It's a nice copy of the original. They are around $5,000 on up.

Transmissions aren't cheap, either. If you want a five in a four with a kick starter, J&P sells them at $2,159.99. In a four speed they get $1,619.99. Those prices are from a 2004 J&P catalog. I'm not impressed with J&P regarding their prices, BTW. Best bet is to find a local Independent store that will give 10% off for walking in the door and then shop the other catalogs (CCI, Drag Specialties, Chrome Specialties, etc.)

You will also need a primary drive.....Probably close to another grand for nice parts. I would probably have a few beers and then forget about the whole project but that's just me.

Man, I didn't think it would be that much, oh well I like your idea...a few beers and forget about it.

What Im trying to really do is figure out the costs of trying to upgrade my bike with a engine/transmission job or just go ahead and buy a evo or newer in the future. I've put a couple grand in my Lowrider since I've owned it for almost 2 years now.
