Pulled the sprocket cover on my 70 ironhead and now the clutch does not work. help

OK so I pulled off the transmission sprocket cover off of my 70 ironhead to get a look athow many teeth i was running on the sprocket to maybe explain why I am getting such slow speeds. But that is another thing alltogether now. But when i put the sprocket cover back on, the clutch does not work?

Does anyone know what I could have done? I have the Hayenes 1970-2001
manual but it doesn't really get into to much detail about the '70
stuff.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
