73 Shovelhead Front Brake Problem

This is probably a simple one for most, but it has eluded me. Lost the stopping power in the front brake one day. First,it felt spongy, too easy to apply, then after a few more brakes, no pressure left at all. Tried bleeding the lines, did not help. Replaced the master cylinder gasket, did not help. ANy ideas?

Sounds like the master cylinder cup in the master cylinder may have lost it's seal.

Any external leakage around the brake lever?

If not, perhaps your piston has frozen in the front caliper.

Good luck!

Install a new master cylinder rebuild kit and use the correct brake fluid for the kit. Make sure the return hole and feed hole in the master cylinder are open....if the're clogged it won't work.
