FXSGARY wants to know Dino or Syn?
Stock shovelhead cam specs

I have an 81 FXS 80 lowrider and would like to know what the cam specs are. I looked in the factory manual and can't seem to find anything on the camshaft. Can anyone enlighten me.

Gary

Yes Gary I can help you but it will cost you a dollar.....do you have that much? The Shovel head has the strangest timing by far of any cam I ever saw.
The intake: frt. cyl. is -6/46, 220 duration, the exh.: is 44/20, 244 duration. The intake: rear cyl. is 14/38, 232 duration, the exh,: is 44/20 244 duration. all lobes have a .390 lift. There is a reason for the different intakes and that difference is how the shovel head fuels the rear to the frt., its a long explaination.
Good Luck

Thanks hdmd88...if I wanted to add a little more to the bottom and mid range what would be a decent cam to get for the 1340 for the street and occasional high rpm ride?
