I have a 1980 shovelhead with a S&S oil pump that is only showing 5 lbs of oil pressure, I rebuilt the oil pump and made sure nothing was pluged up with no luck, it still only shows 5 lbs at start up and at Idle. I check the gauge by putting it on a friends bike and it shows around 30lbs at Idle on his bike. Any ideas on how to fix this problem would be appreciated.
your oil pump only supplys pressure to the motor,your most likely bleeding off pressure at the rocker arms or the tappets(the rest of the of the motor is volume,not pressure) what # is on your pump & body(not part #)
it only takes one bad rocker bushing to lower oil pressure.
