Sweat it or don't?

Changed oil and filter on the '83 last weekend. Upon startup the oil pressure light acted normally (flickered then went out). When I peeked inside the oil bag I saw no signs of life. Could the stock oil pump be moving oil so slow I can't see it, no air bubbles - nothing?
So far I've only ran the engine less than 30 seconds at a time for fear of damage. Oil filter is in the stock vertical location and was filled about two thirds before installing. All new rubber oil lines and separated the primary last year. The couple of sheared oil pump keys I've seen lit up the warning light.

You must have pressure if the light is out.There is not a lot of flow in the system that you can see whats going on in the tank.If it worries you,you can take the return line off an check for flow.
