Question Shovel clutch pull

First post - great forums! I'm in the process of buying a great 82 FXRS. Unfortunately, I have tendonitis in my left elbow (courtesy of my old 04 FLTHI before Harley came out with the easy clutch). The White Bros / Burly easy pull unit isn't available for bikes before 84 or 87. I've tried the AMP unit (on the 04) and while its helpful I wasn't really satisfied.

Any other suggestions as to how I reduce the effort required to pull the clutch lever?

BTW, the 04 gave way to a Redhot Sunglo 09 FLHTCI last fall. Just couldn't pass up all the improvements H-D made to the 09 touring bikes. Love it.

Thanks
Taddeo

Thanks Paul. I've heard too many war stories about how hydraulics result in a loss of "feel" and friction zone. If you've got one and have a different opinion I'd love to hear it.

Slap-stick and suicide. Been running my old pan that way for 30 years and would never go back.

Y'know I started riding in the late 60s (yup - in vitro motorcyclist) and have never tried that set up. Worth thinking about. Thanks.

Yes, I have a ratchet top.
Interesting thing, when I first converted to the hand shift, my tranny was a 1964. The shift pattern (by hand) was first gear back, then second - fourth forward.
About five years later, I swapped the tranny top to a "late model", maybe from a late 70s tranny. That changed the shift pattern to first gear forward, then second - fourth back.
Man, after a couple of bar hops, I could really screw up the shift.
I don't even like to think about the old pattern, now, for fear that I might lapse into it.
