Magneto - Yes or No?

I'm looking at fitting a Magneto to a 1960 Pan, either with or without a battery.
What advice have you guys got?
Make - Morris or Hunt?
Battery - Yes or No?
Kick Starting - better or not?
etc etc
Thanks
SF

the hunts are collector pieces, but had issues. a morris worked much better. run a batter isolator from generator--its just a capacitor to keep lights from dimming at idle. triple check timing or it can hurt ya! if it was me, i would keep battery and install mallory distributor.

the mallory. unless you are still stock compression, you can hand crank it then.

You also have clearance issues with the case boss that holds the advance/retard ignition cable bracket.

Some mags require some of the fins on front cylinder to be trimmed. If not, the front jug has to be removed for installation. I saw a guy do it with a hammer one time. Unreal. Some good files or small grinder work nice.
