pan head in a softail frame

Can I install a panhead and matching 4 speed in a 99 or older softail frame? any freaky mods. required? I have acess to a nice pre 99 rolling chassis

I have a friend with a Hyperformance "110 Panhead in a Softail frame with a hand jammed 5 speed....

For the engine there is no problem, but you have to buy a new transmission plate/adapter to install a 4 speed box in the 5 speed frame.

These is for every frame 1985 up, I do not know if the '84 4 speed Softails (1st series) had the standard 4 speed plate!!!!
