Buyers Guide On Pans and Shovels?

I was wondering if there was a buyers guide of some sort for panheads and shovelheads. I was looking at an '81 pretty unmolested FXS and just wondered how it ranked in the whole 'collectability' aspect.

Walneck's Motor News may be a good place to start.
I believe that is available at most news stands.

Would you be purchasing to keep or to turn a profit? Collectability is in the eye of the beer holder.

I'd want to keep the bike but would like to be educated as to what I had purchased.

Check the serial number. Could be one of the first Eagle Soars Alone scooters. I personally like the pre AMF. However was very happy with the 80" Shovel. Cant remember if any 80"ers were AMF. Seems like June of 81 was when production came home. Either way if you like the bike, go for it.
