panhead performance

i have a 64 pan that i would like to run a velocity stack on .is this possible to do on a street driven pan with s@s carb? i love the look of the stack over the s@s breather. you can see more of the engine and its not like every other cycle on the road. any sugestions would be greatly appreciated.

It'll have ill manners, if you'll be able to tune it at all.
Beside's that, your going to slup debris into your engine.

All you are going to do is suck in a bunch of dirt into your motor. Not a good idea IMHO.

i have found filters that will fit the velocity stack .also found a rain sock to keep water out. tuning was my biggest concern. thanks for the reply.

no gain on a pan. only cosmetics. if you wanna look cool, dont toast a pan , buy a rocker! they will give you lots of doo rags.

We ran many stacks on lots of pans and shovels in the 70's and 80's before we knew any better. Always smelled real bad of gas on your right pants leg Most tuners will tell you not a great idea for use on a road motor. More for show than go if you don't mind the draw backs of the stack go ahead run it!! we put thousands of thousands of miles on with stacks I still have one on my 1972 shovel with S&S L carb with stack and it still looks cool as you know what

Yeah,
But we have a customer that dips Skoal, and spits it in the top left pocket of his shirt........................... usually quite a wet spot on his shirt.
He's not too concerned with being stylish, as he is usually covered with gas/oil etc, as well.(mechanic for a local Deere dealership)

easily bored people will turn to even the simplest things for fun. dats why i have holes in my pockets. or why others may stick a stack on a pan, or run V&H big fat short shots.
