2001 flhpei

Anyone know anything about this particular model? I did a VIN search and it showed FLHPEI. Some Escort bike?

Sounds like a retired police bike, I have a FLHTPI myself, mine is a retired patrol bike from the Winterhaven PD just outside of Orlando Florida. They are a good bike if they were properly maintained (most were).

FLHT- Electra Glide Touring
P- Police bike
I- Fuel Injected

good luck, I like mine.

I don't think mine was used in law enforcement, it only has 22K miles. Looks really clean. I heard a lot of these models were sold to the public. Also heard the dash is different, supposed to have a tach?

It also has what looks like quick-mounts for a windscreen - I just have to figure out which windshield will work with it.

Your console looks just similar to mine (different year of course) which is model standard (no tach). Any quick detach windscreen should work, looks like a standard OEM 4-point mount.

I would recommend picking up a factory service manual, along with a parts catalog and the police model supplement to help with some of those type questions.

Of course you can find lots of info here too.

Hello,

I think the E in FLHPE stands for Escort, which means it's a California model. The Police FLHP and FLHTP models shipped from the factory to California have the E in FLHPE and FLHTPE and they refer it to an Escort model. The EPA requires that any motorcycle sold in the state of California to have a charcoal canister as part of the Emission Standards. It's part of the California Evaporative Emissions Components. The canister is usually located under the battery at the bottom of the frame. If the eighth digit in the Vehicle Identification Number is a 3 then it's a California Model and usually the fifth and sixth digit will be FT instead of FH. I hope this make sense.

Great explanation. I was curious about the E designations my self when he asked me. Never heard that being added here in the East. Yours has had a lot of "civilianization" changes but still a great ride. I love my FLHP-I and ride it more than my '13 FLHR
