Mustang Seat w/ Backrest

Has anybody tried one of these? I haven't gotten around to measuring my stock seat, but I think it might be a little wider than the 14.5" Mustang replacement. Any comments would be welcome.

i have one of these. it is better than the stock air ride seat in that you dont slip around. you stay pretty stable.

i do not have the back support (tall guy).

i think it rides lower than the stock seat.

mustang redesigned the seat pan.

if it were not for my back issues, i would ride with a corbin dual touring seat. much better lower back support/position and leather does not sweat like non-leather does.

the air ride seat is much better for vertical bumps and jarring.

the corbin seems much better for shearing type of movement (fwd/back, side2side).

hope that helps.

Thanks for your comments. I really like the seat I have, I just wish I could get a backrest put on it. I dug out the tape measure, and my stock seat is 18" wide, as opposed to the 14.5" mustang. That's about the size of my Airhawk cushion (which I really like, BTW). I'm just shy of 6'2". Why do you think the backrest is not good for tall riders?

I spoke with a Mustang salesman and he simply stated that over a certain height, the back rest would not really help.

I am 6'4" so you may be fine. Give them a call and see what they say.

The Mustang air ride can be had with a back rest option.

Lance.

Baggins I bumped my air ride seat up in the rear and it makes a world of difference about how the seat feels. If you can imagine, it turns the rear top lip of the seat upward more. All for $2

Hey Ktd,

Can you elaborate on your solution a bit?

What do you mean, "bump up"?

I would be very interested in hearing how you do this.

Thanks,

I took the idea for another ofc's bike I saw. Essentially, you are raising the rear of the seat by putting a "spacer" over top of the rod which extends out of the air rides bellow. It takes about 5-10 minutes and ends up lifting the rear of the seat by about 2". This slight change in position puts a very slight angle, if not flat, feel to the seat. The seat already has the lip on the rear, this just helps raise the lip a little more. I'm 6'2" and I really like the change. I'd put a picture up if I knew how???

Mustang and Corbin make the best seats. Cant go wrong with any of them.
