True duals on a FLHPI 103"

Currently I have V&H slip-ons on my bike and am considering adding the V&H true duals. I've read that the true duals kill a bit of the low end torque but really wake the motor up in the higer rpm range. My question is this, most the treads I read were from owners of police bikes that have the 96" motor. I'm wondering if the true duals on the 103" motor would have less noticeable loss of low end grunt because of the larger displacement??? Please chime in with your opinions good or bad if you have any experience with the 103" motor.

TIA

I have true duals on my 07 flhtp and love them, had them on my 98 flhtpi and like them also... lost so little on the low side its not that noticeable. Although I did put a PCIII and had it dyno'd, which helped... Beat my friends 08 flhtp off the line and all the way thru the gears, but now he went and had his changed out so we are pretty even...

There are no police bikes with a 96" engine, they all have 103s, if they are strokers, or have 88" or 95" if they are pre 07.

If you are going from stock exhaust and then go to duals, you will gain everywhere, but you can do better. if you have already gone to replacement slip ons, you shouldn't notice the difference at the bottom, but the dyno will.

Just ordered a new set of V&H true duals off ebay for $328 shipped. I also spoke with a tech at V&H who said that they have a 2007 FLHPI on the dyno right now working on a tune for the police bikes with both a slip-on and true dual set up as well as stock and high flow air filters. He said it would be the end of the week or so before they nailed something down to release.

Yes it is true. I have a 08 with the 103. I wanted to go with the V&H true duals & monster ovals but at the time V&H did not have anything for the 103. So I went with true duals and Rineharts, PCIII and a dyno. My torque went to 92.79 According to the owners manual is shows the 103 having 102 ft-lbs of torque. Bike still runs strong though.

I have a question for you in regards to your bike though. You show the color as Dark Peace Officer Blue. They use that color in the special edition Peace Officer model which has a 96 cu motor. It may be possible that you have the Peace Officer model and not the police officer motor bike. A way to check is by the vin #. The 5th & 6th digits should be either FH = Police FLHP Road King, FM =Police FLHTP Electra Glide and FT = Police PLHPE Road King. FLHPE and FLHP are different in certain lighting, noise and emission components. Of course I could be wrong as HD made a bunch of police bikes this year(2009) in some weird color as a mistake and they just sold them outright to the public because of the color issue.
