radio installation

Getting ready to purchase the biketronics radio kit for my 03 FLHTP. One last question how does the head unit slide into the faring and how does the compartment slide out? From the side I would be looking at if I were sitting on the bike? If not how does it install? The only reason I ask is because if I have to pull it out from the front through the wiring, it will not work for me.

Thanks
Josh

You remove the shell of the fairing from the outside then remove the glove box and access the wiring all from the inside.

It's been about three years since I did mine, but I had a lot of wiring inside the fairing and found it easier to install the radio by sliding it in from the rider side of the inner fairing.

The Biketronics kit comes with a facia that fills the gap between the radio and the cut-out in the inner fairing. I put the facia on the backside of the inner fairing, slid the radio in from the rider side while getting the facia around the radio. Has worked flawlessly/troublefree since installation.

IIRC, the instructions will say to install the radio from the front of the bike, through the backside of the inner fairing. I didn't do it that way and it's worked fine.

Good luck with your project.
