air ride seat

I Am Installing The Air Ride Police Seat Back On My 2002 Road King Police. Anyone Have Any Experience Or Know What Would Happen If I Left The Air Tank Off Completely? The seat will be attached to the bladder etc. it just wouldnt have the air tank.

You would be riding on the bumpers and when you hit a hole, the seat would come up with you because there would air going in and out of the bag because the tank has the valve.

I guess if someone was heavy enough, the could slam back down and bend the seat bracket at the bumpers

I don't see why the bag would need a tank. The bag is made of rubber. The bag therefore expands and contracts based on air pressure and weight being applied to it. I am getting ready to remove my tank and just use the bag with a valve for airing up and down. I don't see why the tank is needed.

The tank is not needed. I'm not running one on my 08. I have the gauge and the line attached to it and still set at 35 psi...works just fine, without the bulkly tank to hide.

even though you can run without an air tank, it is supposed to allow some compression of the air in the bladder and the tank. If you aren't going to use the tank just ditch the bladder and run a pair of old school springs on the t-bar instead. I tried with just the bladder and found it too hard of a ride, the tank softened it up a little (10 hour ride and no back pain). So basically add springs to the seat, ditch the bladder and tank. Sell the bladder on e-bay from harley it's worth around $200.00

I really doubt that. I replaced mine with a wider one that was 1/4 shorter and run it with a mini compresor. You can get the whole setup on ebay for around $100, you can buy a larger bladder(you will have to trim the plastic cover) for about $70 and it is more comfortable.
