Reinstalling tach on '03 FLHPI : V-Twin Forum: Harley Davidson Forums

I recently got an '03 Police Road King that had the tach removed, I picked up a tach on Ebay that said it was off an '03 Police RK. Funny thing there is the part # on it is 67042-04B.
There is no wiring with the tach but a receptacle that will take a 5 prong plug inside it.
My question is : Is there a short harness with a plug on each end that plugs into the tach and into the wiring harness,or is there a harness that comes from the main and just plugs into the tach.
What wiring do I need to reinstall the tach?? Any tips /help is appreciated.

I have an 04 and when i removed mine, i just unpluged it, the other peice is still there, behind the headlight.

Thanks Rt66Paul, the Supp. Man. show's the wiring for it and it looks like a pin connector in the tach(108C) and a socket connetor on the other end(108B).I 'd say the tach I got is the same as yours, esp with an '04 part number on it(can't see it being an '03 tach). I 'm changing the bars for more pullback when the rain lets up,so I'll look for it then. Do the connectors on the bike have the numbers on them(108B-108C)?? Sure would make following the wiring easier.

My wires don't have numbers, but i did not look for them, the looms should. The wires are color coded, you might mistake 1 wire, but if the pair doen't have the right colors, it is not the correct pair.

There are 5 wires, but unless you have the pursuit lightd hooked up you won't nrrd them all

I meant the plugs and connectors, on the schematic there are 3 connectors labeled 108A,B and C.I just gotta find a 3 wire empty plug with an orange,black and pink wire.Thats why I was thinking there is a short harness between the Main and inside the tach.
Thanks again for the help man, I'm gonna check the sockets to see if they're numbered too. I found a Orange and Black 2 wire socket not pluged into anything coming from under the tank going to the neck and just tucked in with the harnesses. I first thought that was for the tach but won't reach up to the top clamp.If its numbered I'll know what its for without tracing it back.
