Just passing on information about something I had seen regarding the topic of backrests on Police Road Kings. When I observed the H-D backrests on the Lubbock P.D. RK's, it surprised me, I guess that's why it stuck in my memory.
Back in the old days when I was a Motor Officer, we rode the old Electra Glide Police models and since most of us were in our mid 20's, we didn't give a lot of thought to backrests.
Since I am now retired and have not been active LEO for many years, I'll stay out of this forum and keep my thoughts to myself in the future.

I agree, but I'm guessing the apology wasn't his idea ...

Looks very good - "way cool dude". I'm getting ready to put a air ride seat back on. When I picked it up from the dealer I had my (former) FLHR's seat pu on instead of the cheap seat the dealer put on.
I picked up the seat from a guy on http://flhpi.com/. FYI - if you post it there you'll get a bunch of interest.
Please email me at wbcattell at gmail dot com. I'd like to get more info on getting one from you.
Thanks,
Bill

Dave, I wasn't trying to make your post look bad, but was just pointing out what my experences were. I used a Corbin with a cheap backrest and it was ok. I decided to do some surgery to the seat system; I moved it back about 2 inches and down 1 in front. I had to cut the back off of the t bar and drill a hole. I have to fit the pin of the replacement air bladder in the hole and then put air in it. It is very comfortable now. I always ride solo and extended the rack for more gear when traveling

I'm interested
I'm about to take delivery of a '08 FLHP. Have you worked the kinks out of the backrest yet? I think that will probably be one of my first add ons. Any idea about the price? Thanks

Think you'll find that a motor officer in Amarillo created/invented that back rest system a few years ago. He's also sold the same system to several other cities around the country including Phoenix, Dallas and LA County. I see those guys all the time especially around the dealership on Saturdays. Will try to grab a couple pictures of the set up tomorrow. I ride with a couple of 'em but they ride their personal bikes with I'm with them.

Oh-h-h-h but the backrest DOES move with the seat if it's the same one that I made reference to. It's basically afixed to the complete bottom of the seat.
I see now that I've GOT to get some pictures tomorrow or when ever.

Yes, Texan, please do post pictures of this backrest set up that you speak of. I'd like to steal some ideas. hehe
I'm having trouble coming up with something where the hardware don't bang into the seat pan. The stock rubber (baby buggy?) bumpers on the seat rails just ain't cuttin' it. They deflect out of the way on hard bumps, and allow my backrest set up to whack the seat pan.
I'm still pondering, with the intention of making a new device. It looks like I'm gonna have to go with some better bumpers - McMaster Carr has quite a few....

Police Solo Seat Backrest Prototype
Fantastic looking back rest.
I have been trying to find a backrest like that one to fit my 2007 HD Sportster with a solo seat.
Unfortunently it is not available for a solo seat. Any idea is one is available for my bike, or are you going to have one available.
