The dagger blades are oil tank dipsticks. They still sell them. I retired after 20 years on NYPD. The advice is good. If you go for anything, ask permission, like "My license is in my saddlebag, do you want me to get it?".
As soon as you see turret lights, use your turn signal to indicate that you are pulling over. When you pull over, shut the bike off and keep your hands on the grips. Wait until the Officer approaches and ask permission to remove your helmet and glasses.

By asking permission, you are no being subseviant, ou are just letting him/her know what you are doing.

This goes for patch holders too. Don't think the Police are out to get you, we take people individually.

He was very put out when the old "here's my badge, ya don't really need to see my license" fell short. My point in this area is that there are those who feel that the rules of the road do not apply to them because they enforce them. With respect, Maxxdaddy
I hear ya Brother. Most of the time I expect Brother Officers to Identify themselves. Whether or not they get a break is up to them. I give them the option if I plan on writing them to write or call. I either cite them or call thier next in command. (I prefer the latter, keeps things "in house" and keeps me from getting any flack).
Any Officer who "expects" to skate is likely to get both. We have to keep up appearances. It's harder in small communities to get away with bad behavior. I don't routinely commit violations and I expect the same from my brothers and sisters out there.
Stay safe,

Mamma
