Las Vegas Bikefest - Who's going??
Were planning on heading up on Thursday morning. I have been once back in 2002, so hoping this one has gotten bigger since then.

Well, this rally is really getting chessey IMHO, With the fremont street area available, guess what NO NAME entertainment of any kind, a couple of wannabe bands ( zz, Johnny Cash and some dolhpin sounding country chick) That is poor for Vegas.
I live here, but I'm not excited except to see you tourist come and make some deposits!
At least the weather will be better for riding due to be postponed 3 weeks

Yeah, I noticed that there is not much entertainment this weekend.

I go every year and this one will be no different. I enjoy it. It's about a 6 hour trip for me and my buddies (with stops for gas and food) so it's neither too far, nor too close to home. It's a chance to get away to Vegas for a weekend once a year. I'm not a gambler so I really don't go there any other time of the year.
We're leaving Friday morning about 0530 and staying through Monday morning. That will give us the chance to watch football on Sunday in one of the big sportsbooks on the strip. We're all fans of different teams, so all the games in one place will be kind of cool.

I'll be headed up Thursday a.m. and coming back on Saturday. I'll be catchin' up with D190 in Bakersfield and riding with him.
The free "entertainment" does seem to be of a lower quality this year. I'll definitely be at the Thursday evening opening at Cashman.
Look for a red Lehman trike!!!!

Jim,
When you guys are downtown, and if you want an eyeball for a brew, give me a call. I don't know if Ron still has my cell from when I met him in Bakersfield, of you still do from a long time ago. If you don't have it and want to hook up, let me know. I'm buying.....
Tony

Mike, I'm reading my mail before hitting the road this a.m. I triked the 2003 Gold Wing. I picked her up at the end of the Monday. I didn't see you or Joe at home that weekend when I had here at the house. I'll show her to you this weekend. I'll be in town by this afternoon.

D190 & I got back yesterday. We split off from each other in Barstow, CA. LOTS of wind north of Barstow. I didn't hit rain till about 50 miles outside of LA. Ron wasn't so lucky. He got wind & rain most of the way back to Bakersfield.
We got to see Gunslinger briefly at the LV Dealership on Friday p.m. It was good seeing Tony again. Oh, I got to say hello to highrider on Friday, too.
As for the BikeFest, the event has obviously peaked. Attendance & vendor participation was down. The entertainment was of a lower quality than prior years. If been to all the BikeFest events (except for the first one in 2001). This one was by far the weakest. Absent having a house in Vegas, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to return to the event in 2009. If you want to go to "see Vegas" and enjoy a little biker stuff on the side, then it would be worthwhile. If you want to go to a biker event, then plan on going to another one in 2009.

I agree with you, the run is a bust. I didn't see much worth seeing, most of the big bike builders and vendors weren't there and my god has downtown Vegas deteriorated since I was at my last run in 2002. I spend a fair number of weekends in Vegas, just never get down there. I would not stay there or leave my bike parked anywhere done there. Planet Hollywood and the Pleasure Pit are the place to hang and play.
