Crater Lake
Anyone from them neck of the woods?
Heading out in a few days. One of my stops includes Crater Lake. Checked with Park Service for road closures. North Entrance and Rim Drive are closed, but road to Rim Village is still open. Is "open" passable with the bike and can I still get a view of the lake from the Village?
Planning on staying at Roseburg, so I can do the lake during "safe" hours.
Thanks
Pete

It should be plowed into the lodge from 62. There are still alot of roads closed though! Call the ranger station in Butte Falls and ask them.

Here is a live webcam from the lodge. Looks kind of wet and the lake is 8000 ft. Roads are plowed but could be ice.

Local news tonight says they may get 10" or more of fresh snow at Crater Lake this weekend.
From the park website......
from October to June, the park turns into a snow covered wilderness, receiving an average of 533 inches of snow annually.
By early spring it is typical to have 10 to 15 feet of snow on the ground. While snowfall is common in the Cascade Mountains, Crater Lake is one of the snowiest areas in the entire Northwest.

I was watching the news, as dean said, maybe up to 10" of new snow.
Your just a moth early I fear.
But when you hit Portland, do stop and say Hi, if you want we could arrange to meet at one of the local restaurant.

Thanks for the offer.
I'm making my way down 101 from Port Angeles. The plan is spend Monday night in Astoria, either a cabin at the KOA, a yurt at Fort Stevens or a hotel somewhere. Gotta say hi to Mary Todd at the Workers Tavern by the docks.
PM me, we can arrange something.
Re Crater Lake. Seems the news is all bad. I'll give Butte Falls Ranger Station a call once I get real close, take it from there..

Rode up there with a group the first of June from 97 and rode all the way up to Rim Lodge. Great views of the laek. Make sure you have a full tank, they only have regular gas at the station below Rim Lodge.
Ride Safe.
