I was also the after hours and weekend assistant wrecker driver. That sucked, but you'd be surprised what you can do with a 1/2 ton Ford and a boom winch when the cops don't care and just want something elsewhere.

Ol' McGee made good money off that station, why'd your dad sell off?

captainhook455 wants to know Dino or Syn?
The liquor store was up the road and the state troopers would come to the store to get me to buy beer for them. I'd do it, because they couldn't be seen buying beer on duty and the store closed before they got off. The cop car parked behind the gas station where I stashed the hooch in the trunk.

He didn't really sell. Lost it during the Arab oil embargo in 73.

My son (14) just started working at a marina... does lots of stuff but pumping gas is his favorite... either tips or **** he says... love that boy...

I remember being outraged over $.33/gal premium, not to mention alternating days.

twood71 is reading this now saying WTF is this?
Those old gas stations and their used tires.

We kids in the neighbor hood would build the tallest club houses out of them. We all had our own tire stack, we was black by the end of the day-from the tires that is.

There was this one time we found a huge tire, think it was a slick 50 as they called them, man that tire was paraded around for 2 summers. Only a few of us was small enough to fit inside it, fun times going for a ride. Lol of course we never payed attention to the stop signs or highway 41!

Yep that's another one. I don't think anyone could have run into our building without hitting tires first. Didn't have all the rules and regs back then so they could be stacked outside anywhere.

I remember when the quarts came in glass containers. Unscrewed the lid and screwed a metal funnel on. Thats telling my age.

That was axle grease for your horse and carriage cap.

Still have one, somewhere I think......punched a opening, shored up the side of the paper can and a turn down spout all in one smooth push.

A buddy of mine had a '54 Ford that burned oil like a mosquito sprayer. We'd go to the local auto parts store and buy a 5 gallon can of recycled oil. That, and a tank of gas, would get us through a weekend of cruising looking for girls. lol

A buddy of mine paid $.10/quart for bulk oil- that was the leftover oil in all the quarts the station sold. The quarts were drip drained into a 5 gallon can.
