This is true, but I got tired of looking for my tools or seeing what she tried to do with them, so I conceded and bought her her own stocked tool box. I just accept the fact that I may have to fix stuff and she knows not to touch any tools that are not hers.

I know there are at least 5 tape measures on my property somewhere but I'll be damned if I can find one lol

Ha! That's why mine are off limits!

Get her one of her own. Maybe even 2.

But I also worry about what might be attempted on her own with her own tools. It will more than likely take twice as long to correct the damage that could possibly be done.

I was at work one day when my ex called and asked where the hammer and pliers were. Didn't think to ask why because I was very busy at the time. When I got home the living room carpet was rolled up on the front lawn. She had realized there was hard wood flooring under it, and took action. Took me 2 days on my knees with a tack puller and the aforementioned pliers to get all the staples up.

I bought her a tool set in a pink case. It's cheapie stuff, but good enough for the things she 'should' be messing with and the hammer is light enough that she can't do too much damage. The problem I've had since though is that when I need something she runs to me with this case of tools that will hardly handle what I need to accomplish. Then the argument ensues because she is determined to show me how her little tool set is fully capable of handing the most demanding of tasks. Of course it usually ends with her realizing I am going to need real tools, but that does nothing to prevent the same dance next time around.

I'm sure I'm not the only woman with skills, but these stories are....sad. Hanging pictures, etc. with proper anchors is not difficult. I have a friend whose husband is an excellent mechanic (Sheriff by profession) but the guy can't swing a hammer to save his life. They own two rental properties. She and I have completely gutted their kitchen, redesigned it, and built everything required. That goes for the rest of her house as well as the two rental properties. I will admit that when people drive by and see two blondes in the front yard operating chop saws and table saws we get "double takes".

At my sisters house, she and I pulled up the existing carpet, nailed down any sub-floors that has squeeky spots, and either put in bamboo flooring or tile. I also built a custom 3 1/2' by 8' Island with built in stove, cook top, etc.

The blunders at her house were done by men, not by us. One guy attempted to build the island. It had two built in ovens. I discovered the reason one oven didn't work properly was because the ding-dong cut the thermocouple and the oven was running full power. It could have burned the place down. Later, her boyfriend lived with us and tried to convince her she needed about a dozen GFCI plugs, which are expensive. He got all offended when I told her she only need one per circuit. I finally, after much screaming back and forth, got him to read the instructions that come with the GFCI.

So, I've seen guys to some pretty stupid chit in my time as well as women. If a person cares enough to read directions, go to YouTube or any other source for tips, they will do a good job.

Well, at least most of the work was in the kitchen, where you belong.

I can hardly make my wife touch a tool. If I'm working on her stuff, she complains if I ask her to hand me one.

A new sticker came for her car. Revised instructions about how to use the jack. She told me not to bother with it as she would never need to use the jack. I was like "WTF, are you immune to flat tires?" She said no, she might get a flat, but there was no way on this earth that she would ever change it. Least not as long as she had a phone and a credit card.

The only reply I can think of is, do you know why women's feet are smaller then mens? It's so they can get closer to the kitchen sink.

Your friend says hi!

A few years back my wife got a flat. Some guy stopped as if he was going to help her. He asked if she was married and when she told him yes he told her "Sorry lady" then got back in his car and left.
