Plasma TV
Are Samsung plasma TVs good? Should I stay same brand for a Blu-ray and a home theater?
Costco has a Samsung 51" PN51E535A3F plasma on a good sale right now.
I'm still in the old tube screen TV world and want to get out.

I bought a Samsung LED 43" Christmas before last and I was amazed at the overall quality and picture quality. It was so good I bought a second Samsung exactly like it, this last Christmas for my second home. I got the LED though...from RC Willey at about the same price as Costco.
YES, they are good, borderline great, and I highly recommend Samsung...

The TV geeks told me they all still prefer Plasma TV's. We bought a Panasonic 65" Plasma about a year and a half ago. Great picture.

I have a Panasonic 50 inch plasma very nice i have had it for three years know. I was also told that plasma TVs are altitude rated and the Panasonic i have is rated for 10,000 feet. Keep in mind in order to have the best quality picture get a 1080p and make sure you get a 1080p rated HDMI cable. That's not all you have to have cable or dish with a HD receiver box

I went with LCD back in the day because I heard they don't travel well and I was moving every couple of years. I have also heard that Plasma consumes power and creates heat at a far greater rate than the LCD TVs. Be sure to pay attention to the 1080p and HDMI cable/dish part. You will never watch football on a tube TV again after you se it in HD.

We had a 13" GE B&W in 1980, it was our living room TV. I have since upgraded.

I realize it's too late, but I'd recommend LCD. They run cooler, no bulb to replace, and no screen burn-in. Maybe next time.

I like the Samsungs. Have two of them. I don't know if it's all Samsungs, but the 46" I have had capacitors in the PS that are below par. If you ever start getting problems with the thing clicking and are handy with a soldering iron, replace the capacitors on on the PS board with higher rated ones. You can tell the bad ones because the tops will be raised. Cost me 45 minutes and about $8 in caps. Samsung told me I had to replace the entire PS, which was well over $8.
