Hurricane Sandy
It was just a year ago when hurricane Irene kicked the crap out of the Southern-tier of NY. Looks like this one is going to make a hell of mess in NYC and the Jersey Shore before coming right over the top of my house. Unfortunately I have to be on the road for work, so I'm doing what I can to batten down the hatches before I go. (Headed to Albany so, I'll won't be missing the fun either way.)
The right hook that this storm is taking looks just like Hurricane Agnus in 1972. I remember that storm very well, it kicked the crap out of us here.

Yeah, it looks as though a lot of the inland NE areas are gonna get hammered pretty bad, also. The frontal combinations of low pressure and cold Canadian air masses are bound to wreak havoc on youse guys. Batten down the hatches!

Hopefully this storm will get all of the leaves out of my trees because the task of raking every few days has gotten old.
Spent most of the morning getting things into the basement or tying it down. This area, Northern Virginia, doesn't have a good track record with keeping power because very few power lines are underground. I don't care about cleaning up the mess that is sure to occur but I'd rather not be without power for an extended period of time.
I'm not far from the Potomac but far and high enough away that any flooding from that wont affect me. I was surprised to see the large number of boats that were still at the docks.

Like HiAngle, I'm in the North Virginia area but I've only been here a few weeks so I don't know what to expect. Almost all of my survival/emergency supplies are back home in Louisiana. I bought a one burner stove and some propane. I have a couple of cases of beer, a tin percolator and a dozen cans of soup. At least I'll have some warm beer, hot coffee and soup. Batten down the hatches and hang on.

Full blown winter here, and it's not going away until spring.
It's always the same story, snow on the ground here means hell in the tropics and up the east coast.
hah hah. That'll teach ya's.

Staying in touch with a few folks out there. Been losing power on and off. Winds about 50-60 mph in Delaware and Philadelphia.
They have generators to I still get messages from them.
Hope everyone here is safe.

You may regret putting things in the basement if you don't have your sump pump hooked up to a generator.

I grew up in New York and still have many friends and relatives there. My prayers are with all of you in the northeast.
