Redline Heavy Shockproof Gear Oil

Any Delinquents know where to get this stuff in NOVA? I believe Zippers has it, but I wondered whether it can be picked up within a reasonable distance of Springfield/Alexandria? Thanks

Did a dealer search. Two in NoVa are:

Performance Buyers Club
Chantilly, VA 20151
(703) 818-9840

Anderson Sunoco
Arlington, VA 22207
(703) 532-0773

I'd give em a call first though.

Thanks! I've talked with Anderson and they only sell gallons. If I can't find quarts I'll probably go for the gusto and share the wealth.

The other place, PBC has quarts, $11.95. They will sell over the counter, but usually just for auto service. They had two quarts on hand.

Sounds great! Thanks for checking!! But they are out next to Dulles and 25 miles away. I wondered if anybody has seen it any of the indys or auto supply shops around Springfield or Alex?

Greg,

I've never seen it at any of the indy's...and I've looked. The place in Dulles is where I get Redline products. They changed the name though.

Thanks buddy. Looks like it can also be gotten at Fairfax Auto Parts, though they need to order it and bring it in the next day. Works for me, I guess.

You could always ride down here to F/B and buy a quart at Scooter Works right on route 1 about a 1/2 mile before the bridge into town.

Ok, so I found the Redline Heavy Shockproof and changed my trans fluid. I'm not sure what all the hype is though. First it looks like red paint! And, I know this isn't scientific, but I drained the Syn 3 from the trans into a clean glass measuring cup to check it. Yes, after 7,500 miles it was a bit dirty but it still actually looked pretty good. It had dirt in suspension but still was holding some of its brown color. Plus when I cleaned the measuring glass it took a lot of soap to break down the Syn. The Syn was still very slippery and tenacious. I measured in the Redline Heavy with the same measuring cup, and it didn't feel near as slippery as the Syn, plus it didn't take much soap to break it down to clean the cup. To me that means the Syn coats and stay on the gears better. The trans shifted a little more smoothly with the Redline, but when I changed to fresh fluid the last time (Syn) I said the same thing. So - what am I missing?

I think it has to heat up. I'm on my 3rd tranny change with the shock proof and couldn' be happier. It shifts much better than syn3 in my RK. Every shift is solid feeling. Have ya gone for a ride yet?.........don't go by looks alone.

I did put a quick 400 miles on it over the weekend. It does shift fine, but I wouldn't say better than when I put Syn in it the last change. I'll see what the Redline looks like when I change the next time...

gp, i did the same thing, thinking redline was some miracle cure. it seems the same as evrything else no better no worse. but i'm a slave to the hype, you know how that goes. At least i can leave it in for a while.
