'Spose I should add my story...
Well...it may be genetic since my pop rode an HD after the war (WWII)
'cause that's all he could afford, in the fifties he began racing (autos) met my mother and the rest is a shot in the dark!!!
When I was a kid the ole' man used to bring home all manner of engines, Briggs & Stratton...etc...and I got to F**K around with 'em. When I was 15 (1968) I bought my first legal motor bike a Honda S90, I rode that "bike" to Midland Tx. from my home in West Palm Beach Fla. to visit a friend. What an ass busting ride, the poor little thing melted down the day after I got there. My buddy had a '67 Norton Atlas that he was gonna sell me when I got there...good thing! We trashed the Honda and set it on fire, a kinda funeral pyre. I headed home after we made as sure as we could that I'd make it...I think it was mostly prayers and pagan sacrifice. I've since owned all manner of Brit bikes and a few assorted dirt bikes before I purchased my first HD, a '69 Sporty...that was in '78...in '84 I traded for a '66 FLH which I promptly stripped to bare bones, the Shovel went through many versions ending up as a rigid. I was separated from my beloved Shovel by a mistake made by my other head, at the realization of which got a divorce ('98) and was forced to sell either the scoot or all my auto/bike tools. (worth about 15k at the time and the source of my main income) I got 8k for the bike which I had to split and inherited 20k of debt of which I'm now free of and just recently purchased an '04 Springer Softtail. All's well that ends in the wind...
