Buying Soon
Put a deposit on a 2005 Deuce yesterday, just have to decide on wheels. The dealer advised SE carb work, SE 2-into-1 exhaust, K&N air filter. Been out of riding for 4 years, sold my '83 BMW RS to help pay for a '65 vette. But now I miss riding, and the vette - it's beautiful - is to the point where there isn't much to do mechanically or cosmetically. (Don't think I can afford both AND two college educations coming up) That's the big reason I went to HD, seems like there's plenty of stuff to do after you buy - 'how fast do you want to spend?'
I've already gotten some good info from the members, I'll be a regular.
Jim

No responses, sheesh! Must have said something wrong.. Anyway, the dealer is ordering my exhaust, seat, wheels/pulley today, should have the bike in 10 days. Looking forward to being back on the road, like I said above I've already found a lot of good information here, I will be a regular visitor. Jim

Welcome
Welcome to the forum, Jim.
Obviously you are too nice of a guy to pick on Jim, heck, you had no problem with deciding the bike color, not to mention all the accessories! And you didn't mention helmet color either - hint, read the Classic posts when you have time Oh well, hang in here, you may be able to come up with a controversial statement sooner or later. So, are you going to use synthetic oil, do your own maintenance, wave at other riders, vote in November? Whatever you do, ride safe. Post a few pictures when you can; I suggest starting an album at Webshots if you don't already have an online photo storage. All the best, John

Hi Jim, Welcome !
You picked a great model Harley (I own an '04 Deuce )
I'm curious, what made you decide on carb vs. EFI ?
Do you plan on alot of motor mods and need the flexibility of a carb ? or are you "old school" like me and prefer the simplicity of a carb. I was talked into EFI by many riders and am glad I went with injected. The throttle response it crisper, the choke is automatic, and from what I understand the plugs foul less over time due to the more exact air/fuel mixture especially when the bike is cold.
Enjoy that Deuce !
When is your estimated delivery date ?

I think you are going to be real happy with your decision. I got my '04 deuce in August. I'm with Mark, I went injected.
You got a great bike, enjoy.

Great! Some responses! I'm excited now!!
Let's see.... I thought the Deuce was the best looking bike on the floor, just appealed to me. Then the stinkin' dealer got in a beautiful factory-custom painted one. The metal on the tank was 'swirled' (think of a dremel with maybe a quater (25 cent) size tip, not sure how to describe, I'll post pics when I get it), then harley orange and silver were laid on top, surrounded by black. Not doing it justice, it's really stunning. Anyway, that bike had a carb, so my decision was done. I probably would have gone with fuel-injection looking at two identical bikes. Planning to do as much maintenance on it as I can, which with my new manual should be a lot. Used other posts on the web to buy a jacket from foxcreek leathers, saved a buck or two over the harley jacket. Mine is going on 30, and the leather is way thinner than what I've been looking at. Now it's just a matter of waiting for the parts, the RC wheels will probably be the long pole, but I can ride without them (I'll probably keep the stock ones on until I get the RCs )
Thanks for the welcome, I'm really stoked about my new bike, I started riding 1975, but this is as excited as I've been.
Jim
