Just registered with VTF the other day and haven't had a chance to choose an avatar. Will get to that soon. Now I'm just lurking and checking out some of the threads.

I've been on two wheels ever since I could drive which is about 34 years ago now. My first set of wheels was a Vespa 150 I picked up from a guy for $35. I graduated to a Honda 350 and from there a brand new Honda 750 in 1975. It was a beautiful bike but handled like crap. Several Years, the Navy and motorcycles later, I purchased a 1984 Honda Goldwing which stood me in good stead for the better part of fourteen years. In 1999 I finally decided it was time to try something different so I looked around and finally plunked down some money on a 1997 HD Electraglide. Now my brother is talking to me again and I have actually met a group that is willing ride with me now. Sans the smart ass remarks. Unless my financial situation drastically improves this will probably be the Bike I die with.

To me the bike is the thing. When I go on bike rides, it's the ride not the destination. Once I get to where we are going I'm generally anxious to get back on the bike and cruise. The parties are okay, and I generally have a good time but it's all about the bike.
