Hello,

I'm a new member from central Florida. Been riding since the mid-70s and wrenching since the late 70s. AMI graduate back in 1978 and went to work for a multi-brand dealer that same year. I've owned lots of bikes from Ducati, Yamaha, Kawasaki, BMW, Suzuki and Honda and even Triumphs. No Harley yet, but I've got the bug to buy one. I started a year ago by reading everything I could, getting opinions on this forum and searching CL to see what's out there that I think would fit my riding preference. So far I really like the FXDX from 2000 to 2004 because of suspension and better brakes. An Evo FXRS is a close second for the better frame. Having a big twin that handles decently is a must. I need to do 500 mile days from time to time so a bagger might be an option as well.

I just finished a total concours restoration of my 67 Triumph TR6R so I need another project. I own a restored 66 Triumph Bonneville, an original unrestored Triumph TRW 500 and a Kawasaki KLR that is set up for adventure touring with hard bags.

If you have been riding since the mid 70's, sounds like you are old enough for a bagger

Welcome aboard. The FXDX front end onto an FXR is supposed to be a common, easy, and effective swap. At left is my FXR bagger.

There ya go, all bases covered.

We're here to help.
