New FXDX Rider with Cold Legs

Riding through my first winter in Atlanta on a 2001 FXDX. Any recommendations on pant that can screen the wind? I know I could get some chaps, but would rather have some jeans with some sort of windbreak in them.

I find that a pair of cheap, Walmart, Fruit of the Loom thermals under my jeans works well down to the low 40's... but that's just me. Nothing will work as well as leather for blocking the wind tho... Try the thermals first.

This morning at 32, thermals and overalls I was a Popsicle. Heated gear is a must below 40. CT.

I agree. The only reason my bike sits for 3 months is because I don't have heated gear...

Salt doesn't help either, unless you can clean the bike indoors.

Yep, that too. I took the bike out the past 2 weekends and noticed a little bit of salt residue on the lower frame. Years ago I used to work at a dealership with a indoor heated detail department, and while that would be ideal, I think I'm going to put some old towels down in the garage in the next week or so and use a spray bottle with hot water to wet it all down and wipe it clean. Then I'll probably do a once over with some quik detailer and put her down till March...

Have you try Duluth trading company Fire Hose jeans, with a loghanldes underneath. I'm warm down to about 30 that way. Bonus they are made out of basically the same matieral as fire hose canvas. You get the protection of a material that is as good as a thin layer of kevlar. They will last quite a while also. I like them.. http://www.duluthtrading.com/

How is the stiffness/mobilty? Thinking about picking up a pair to try out...
