I like my pan

I like to fix my own stuff, sometimes I find myself working on something I know nothing about, the internet has been very helpful. My charging system quit working and what I'm guessing is that generators don't like high RPM's and they tend to come apart, that being said, We have a memorial ride next weekend and I would like to take the pan with me. Does anyone have a recommendation as far as gen. vs alt.?

I had a 50 Pan.. Loved it.. unfortunately me knees wouldn't let me ride anymore.. Are you aware the generator has to be polarized.??
