Thumbs up A new FXDX

Well, I'm new to Harleys but I've been riding an '85 Honda VF1100S for quite a few years. I've dreamed of the day when I could get a new bike.

It all started about a month ago. My wife and I were actually out shopping for a lawnmower. We had stopped into a Honda dealer to look at Honda lawnmowers (too expensive). We were looking at the motorcycles before we left. I can't tell you what was going through her head at the time but, that's when she let it slip. "Maybe you could buy one for your birthday." Needless to say, we spent the rest of the day looking at Hondas. OK, so we dropped into a Harley dealer before we went home.

To shorten the story a bit, the following Monday, I took a test drive on a Low Rider and I was hooked. It took a week to figure out how we were going to pay for this monster. It took another week to choose the right model and find the best dealership to buy from. Two weeks ago, I went to Downtown Harley in Tukwila, WA to buy the bike. It took a week to get some of my accessories into the shop and get them installed. So today, I went and picked it up, a 2002 Harley-Davidson FXDX.

I put 50 miles on it today and it is one fun machine. I was expecting the Harley to be better than my old Honda in many ways and the Honda to be better than the Harley in others. The reality is that the Honda has only one superior quality, power. The Harley handles better, is more comfortable, and of course sounds better.

I just can't wait for the weather to improve so I can get back on the road.

Welcome to HD and the board. Judging from the picture of that nice ride, you still need a lawnmower. Just the other day my son informed me of the need for a new lawnmower. Maybe I should let my Bride read your post.

Bill,

Welcome to the club! I picked up my FXDX a little over a month ago and I love it. It's a blast to ride, especially in the twisties.

I'd like to welcome you also! Nice scoot ya got there. As far as the lawn goes, yeah, ya need a mower I know the Honda mowers are a little pricey but I have one I can't kill. Quiet and starts first pull after sitting all winter. Glad to see you have your priorities straightened out, screw the lawn and go for a ride !!!!!!
