Newbie from Illinois

Hello from the land of corruption!!

Have perused the site from time to time. figured I'd finally join up.

Just bought an 09 Ultra/Big purple flake. Traded my 08 Heritage to get it. Also have an 05 1200R that I love to get out on.

Started with a 75 Yamaha RD350 back in 1984. Then got a 76 (i think that was the year) Kaw KZ650. Gave up riding for a few years then got a 92 Yamaha SecaII and then traded that for a 95 Yamaha Virago 1100.

Finally got my Harley over a year ago and ain't lookin back.

Hello and welcome! I had Seca and a Virago once upon a time too, both great bikes. I rode that Seca into dirt, the Virago was a casualty of divorce lol!

My Seca was the casualty of getting older and wifee not liking the ride.
My Virago was a casualty of having kids and not having time to ride.

My Sportster was my anniversary present a couple years back as my wife knew how much I loved riding, wanted a HD and wishing I hadn't sold my Virago.

I'll never be without a scooter again.

I just got back from an 11 day Rt66 trip on my 08 Heritage a couple weeks ago. I was wanting to buy the Ultra before I went but wasn't able to get break-in mileage. Did 4000 miles in 11 days.

I called my local dealer on a thursday (from South Dakota) and told him if the purple ultra was still there at end of business Saturday to put a sold sign on it.

Got back on sunday and on monday I bought it. The 09's are awesome. Road an 08 for about 250 miles and road an 05 about 100 miles. No comparison to the 09's.

I had an 09 as a loaner while my Heritage was having its 10,000 mile service. Loved it but still wasn't going to buy one. Then I saw the metal flake purple and had to have it. (purple is my favorite color).

Buying this Ultra was all about color. If it wasn't for the purple, I'd still have my Heritage!!!
