Nightster to Street Bob Trade

Hi, my name is Jason….. I hadn’t ridden a bike in 20 years, but have long been a Harley fan. I had a Honda Rebel 250 when I was 15 until I totaled it zigging when I should have zagged…then I got a Honda 450 Nighthawk and rode it until I was about 17 on and off.

I got a new job last year and decided I might like to get a cheap bike. I started looking at standard bikes and was astonished at what prices they were going for and thought I might as well look at what Harley had in their Sportster line. I hadn’t really kept up to be honest with what was going on with Harleys in recent years.

I saw the Nightster and knew immediately that I had to have one! I got my vivid black Nightster and proceeded to ‘mod’ it to my taste….stage 1, seat, shocks, etc. Put about 10,000 miles on it last year and the week after installing a brand new set of Metzeler 880s – the trade in program was rumored on the net to be coming up.

I honestly didn’t think I could handle a Big Twin before riding the dog out of that Nightster. For one, I’m 5’6” with a 29” inseam and it’s hard for me to flat foot on the Big Twins, but throughout the year I sat on the various models and found the Street Bob to be both my taste in styling and easy to flat foot for me.

I shopped the few dealers we have here and found my best deal…..then proceeded to let a closer dealer talk me out of about $300 more than my best deal – LOL. Oh well, I had my reasons – didn’t have to haul my Nightster in the dead of winter in a truck which I had never done before……got the remap thrown in w/all labor (not that I couldn’t have done it myself).

Never looked back! I love the looks of the Street Bob, the 96 inch motor w/stage 1 is STRONG and quiet, the six speed transmission makes it purr at 80mph, the added weight really helps in the wind, the added suspension travel NEVER bottoms out and rides like a Caddy in comparison…….. there really is no negative to the trade. 6,500 miles so far on the Street Bob and I’m loving it!

I’ve got about $1,500 in parts off that Nightster that I still need to Ebay….so, look for me to be advertising them here one of these days if that’s allowed.
