Cool Greets from NC

Hey, all. I'm Dave from the hills of NC (xplanted hillbilly). My current scoot is a '94 FXDL. I posted a pic in the Gallery section for the curious.

This is my second H-D; to be honest, it's my second bike, period.

I've got a pretty nasty case of arthritis. I was born in '73, so you can do the math. After not being able to walk for about 10 years, I was forced to get a total hip replacement in '06.

I rediscovered the joys of walking and being able to look folks in the eye again. Something about it must've given me a wild hair, 'cause 2 months after getting cut, I bought an '04 XL883 off my best friend.

I was hooked.

6-8 months later, I bought the Lowrider.

Fast-forward 2+ years and 40K-somethin' miles, I'm still hooked and still just as excited when I saddle up today as I was then.

For me, it's a new lease on life. I still hurt a lot, and, no doubt, I'll be under the knife several more times... but I'm alive, and I'm LIVING.

Anyway, 'nuff with the Jack Handy moment... I've been lurking around here about as long as I've had the Lowrider and figured it was time to break the silence.

So... well-met and thanks for all the info, insight, and entertainment!

Welcome friend,
spent some time in a chair myself, then two years with a cane, so I get it.
Nice to have you.

Welcome. From a Hoosier to a Hillbilly, I'm glad you're up and around. You're awful young to have suffered that kind of surgery.

Thanks for the welcome, folks.

Yeah, I'm a bit out of the usual demographic for joint replacement, but my femur had completely fused to the socket. (ankylosing spondylitis) The surgery was nasty, but I had fun hitting on the geriatric ladies in the rehab unit.

I was 19 when it hit me, so... perhaps I'm making up for lost time.

Hay DeeSee - Glad your up and ridin - if ya feel up to it come on over to Pigeon Forge May 7-10 - they moved the GSMBR to June but a bunch of us are still going to meet up and do a little ridin on the DRAGON and do a little sightseeing. No hot rodders just a lot of ole folks having a good time. And if ya get sore or tired we can always stop and have a cup.

Again, thanks, all.

Thanks for the invite! I'm sorry to say that I'll have to decline (this time, at least); I've got the old girl up on the lift and just got the engine buttoned back up and the tins back from being stripped. I'm HOPING to be back on the roads within the next 4 weeks.

I'm trying to come up with a write-up for the build I've almost finished on the Lowrider. (I gots PICS!) All that's left is paint & graphics.
