Hello from N.E. Texas

My first bike was a 250 single cyl.Benelli,
I bought it in 1968 and have been riding ever since.

I'am now considering a 08 Ultra Classic, recently rented one for a 350 mile one day ride in the Texas hill country and was very impressed with the comfort although it seemed to be underpowered.

I have been lurking on this forum for a while and found it to be really
informative.

welcome 240z

all the touring bikes are going to feel underpowered due to their weight and required epa restrictions that harley has to meet. there are a lot of nice upgrades to improve performance but are somewhat costly. i would buy a used bike that already had some motor upgrades before i would buy a new bike - but that's me. if you ride the lighter weight street bikes or dirt bikes, the touring bikes are really going to feel underpowered due to the very dismal engine hp / torque to weight ratio.

changing the cams, using a different head gasket to bump compression, and getting the ignition reprogrammed will make a big difference but cost at least 1k with labor (that's a very rough estimate depending on who you use).

big advantage of the touring bikes is the comfort over long miles and lots of riding. get out there and ride!

Welcome to the forum 240Z. Sounds like there's some history in that name.
