Jams,
There's a national HOG Rally scheduled for Montana next year.

National rally and not state?
Beartooth Harley --> http://www.beartoothharley.com/ only refers to the calender but doesn't have dates and Hog lists it's rally for next June.

There will be the state rally you mention, but then the National will be June 30th and July 1st in Billings.

That makes sense I had to work during the one here last June and I know it was already here and gone which is why I was confused --- but that was just a state rally.

The Rally I am referring to is the 23rd Annual National HOG Rally. It is June 30th and July 1st, 2006 in Billings Mt.
Because of the riding and fly fishing in the area, I think this is going to be a great Rally.
Regards,
Bill

They just re-opened Beartooth pass a couple of weeks ago just in time to close it for the season.

Club HOG Billings Mt Jun 30-July 1 2006
I just reserved a room in Billings to attend the Club Hog Rally being held JUN30-JUL1 2005. It must gonna b e popular as getting a room was tricky.
Anyhow, anybody got tips on neat places to ride while around those parts.
Does it rain around there a lot that time of year? Dumb questions I know, but its good to be prepared for someplace you know nothing about.
Plan on riding up through Grand Tetons and Yellowstone and Freeway it home
Any comments would be welcome
Thanks

There are a lot of places to ride in the area. Some of the don't misses in my opinion are, Bear Tooth Pass between Red Lodge, Mt., and Yellowstone. The Chief Joseph Highway between Cooke City,Mt and Cody, Wy. Highway 14 through the Big Horn Mountains between Sheridan and Cody, Wy. The Custer battlefield in Montana, just North of Sheridan. I am sure there are lots of others, but these are on my list for when I'm there for the HOG Rally.
There is a museum in Cody that is supposed to have the largest collection of Winchester guns in the world. I plan to visit it also.
Regards,
Bill

As far as weather and riding conditions, you are going to be in the mountains in July, so there is always the possibility of afternoon rain. I would no go there, or anywhere else without a rainsuit.
You will be in some areas that are 10,000+ ft. so it might get pretty cold, even in July. I plan on having a leather jacket, chaps, sweat shirt, lite jacket, good gloves and a helmet.
By the way, the questions you are asking are not dumb. It is better to get the facts and be as prepared as possible than to get there unprepared and not be able to enjoy the trip of a lifetime.

Bill

If I were going to go to just one, which one would be better; the state or the national HOG rally? Thanks.
