Thumbs up Colorado Rocks

On the way to Sturgis this year a friend and I decided to go through Colorado first, man what an awesome state for riding. We took RT50 from Canon City to RT550 to Durango. I would rate this a 10 and must do if you are in the area.
Special thanks to the guy at Pike's Peak Harley for recommending it.Sorry I can't remember his name.

sometimes I get so pissed off at the volume of traffic and pokey tourists that I forget how special this place is. Luckily I can ride as much as I want during the week so don't have to venture out into mtn weekend traffic jams if I don't want to. I really should stop bitching and consider myself very lucky to be able to ride thru the CO Rockies any time I want.

I just got back from a weekend reminder that I'm very lucky to live within a couple hours of riding most people think of as a "once in a lifetime" trip.

The first two pictures are from CO 65 over the Grand Mesa (in the first one you can see the road winding its way up below), and the third is from about ten miles north of Ouray, looking at the mountains surrounding the town. The picture doesn't begin to do justice to the way the sunlight was shining down into the valley, and otherwise blocked by clouds

Great pics! A friend of mine has a place on the Grand Mesa and frequently asks me to tag along. I've never been there...looks like I need to get my butt over there.

05,

I hadn't been either before this. It's GREAT! 65 is a great road.

Thumbs up

No doubt...Harris/FredGarvin, please don't ever take the Rockies for granted.

You guys got the best riding in the country in my opinion. Living here in Illinois, I can tell you that the view over the handlebars around here ain't much to brag about.

Rocket1450 - you might try the road from Durango north to I-70. It's awesome for most of the ride. Once you get past Montrose, it kind of levels out, but it's still a blast.

Used to know a girl in San Diego who went by Summer.
