Cycle shops in Denver CO
In the next couple weeks I plan on making the trek from western Kansas to Denver. Being in western Kansas leaves a lot to be desired as far as going to cycle shops. The nearest HD Dealer is one and half hours away. Anyway, I was wondering if anybody has recomendations on their favorite motorcycle shops in the Denver area. My request is for the NON-HD Dealer shops, like Easyriders that have a good selection of aftermarket parts at a reasonable price.

Easyriders is gone now, replaced by a paint shop.
A couple of the better ones are 2Wheelers at 1433 W. 38th, and The Hawgback at 4122 S. Parker Rd. Also check out Hogley Custom Cycles at 6579 S. Broadway.
If you come in to town by I-70, Mile High H-D is right at I-70 and Airport Rd. to the south. Might as well stop in on your way into town.
BTW, my family hails from the Oakley/Colby area. I know what you mean about trying to find M/C shops out there on the prairie.

This is a little shop up north of Boulder, about 50 minutes from Denver. They have a lot of consignment bikes on sale, and a small 'showroom' inside with clothes and crap.

This place just moved into a larger location, haven't had time to check them out, but their old place was pretty cool.

There's also Thunder Mountain Cycles in Fort Collins, about an hour and a half north of Denver. They build their own custom Harley's, some are pretty cool.

Colorado Springs
If you get down to the Springs area --- "Everyone" --- needs to check out
<<--The Rocky Mountain Motorcycle Museum-->>
They have some great old scooters there. Not just perfect restoration projects but rolled out of barns old iron on display just the way they were when they found them.
They have old levi jackets with club patches on them hanging on the wall that look like they still have beer stains on them from a night before party.
My Dad's old Indian Race bike is there.
There used to be a Non-Factory Chopper Shop called "High Country Custom Cycles" (Shooters & Scooters) next door, but I am not sure about it anymore. I heard something about the state was changing the off ramp there and the building was in the way.
Anyone know if they are still there?

High Country Custom Cycles is on North Nevada now, right off of I25. Its right next to Pikes Peak Harley. Or in front of it I guess you could say.

Actually, High Country Custom Cycles is now next to the new (2nd) Pikes Peak HD on north Powers. The old High Country Custom Cycles in front of the Pikes Peak HD off Nevada I hear may be the new home for the museum.

You forgot to mention the Sedalia Grill above the shop. Great food and great looking barmaids. I always stop when I'm in the area.

When I lived in Denver, I used to frequent Howell's house of H-D. Not sure if they are still doin' business, but they were pretty good to me. They were (are) located on S. Federal in Denver, just north of Alameda Blvd.

I bought a new V-Rod from Mile High Harley back in Aug 04 and felt that they really treated me right. Salesman knew I was a crotch-rocket rider and showed me all of the models even though I was only there for the V-Rod. The dealership did explain all of the stuff they offered like prepaid services, service dep, insurance and accessories they had but didn't push them too hard. Dealership also explained the bike to me and showed me how to operate it even though I was an experienced rider. Before I left the dealership, they gave me a t-shirt for my wife and I and a license plate frame with the dealers name on it. A few weeks later, a nice plaque arrived with my name on it and a picture of the V-Rod from Thank-U plaques. One more thing, I paid MSRP plus $199 for setup and that was it.
I bought a 2005 883 for my wife in October from Sun up in Thornton. I went to Sun because they also have a Honda dealership and I was trading in my 99 CBR. First they tried offering me less than 1/2 what my bike was worth and when I about to leave they stopped me in the parking lot and said lets make a deal. After we worked out what they were going to give me for my trade, they said come back in an hour and they would have the paperwork ready. 2 hours later we had to hunt the salesman down and then wait another 1/2 hour to sign the paperwork. While we were waiting to sign paperwork they still weren't getting the bike ready to leave.
Finally got to see the financial guy and he acted like he was doing us a favor selling us the bike. We were paying cash so he really didn't have to do much except type up the paperwork. Didn't really try to push the extras on us here either. Salesman finally had the bike prepped and showed my wife how to operate the bike, then stated "Bring us your customer survey and its good for a couple of t-shirts". Paid pretty much MSRP+freight/setup+doc fees. Not quite the warm fuzzy that I got from Mile High, but not bad enough to say avoid them either. Wife keeps asking me if she thinks Sun is going to get her a plaque like I got from Mile High, I'm not holding my breath but will keep you informed.
6 Jan 05 Update
Wen't back to Sun and received a couple of T-shirts and was treated nice by the ladies in the clothing area. On 6 Jan we received a plaque for my wife's Sporty from Sun. The plaque is isn't colored like the one I received from Mile High but it is nice. Too bad the wife is moving out and soon to be my ex-wife and I will be selling the Sporty!
