Lincoln, NE

My brother and I are planning to meet and spend a week riding together. He lives in MT and I live in LA. Lincoln, NE happens to be one of many places that falls on an imaginary line that represents halfway between the two of us.

OK, here's the question. Is there anything to do or going on in Lincoln in early June? We plan to meet there and then ride somewhere. One of those, "where the wind takes us" weeks.

Thanks,
BigD

Your only an hour from Omaha and Council Bluffs Iowa, lots of gambling in Iowa, I'm not sure what kind of "fun" your looking for but NE is pretty boring unless you know somebody there that can entertain you. I'm not slamming NE it's just, well...boring. If your looking for some scenic riding try to stay on the north west corner of NE, real close to the Wyoming/South Dakota borders, very beautiful country. Lincoln NE lives and breaths NE football so...
Good luck and ride safe
On edit I see you live in LA not L.A. so your choices are kind of limited aren't they, maybe Colorado

I see you're from WI. Funny, but that was one direction we were thinking of heading to once we hooked up. So, what's going on in WI in early June?

Our other thought was to seek out the original Route 66. Just an idea.

As mentioned, not a heck of a lot going on in Lincoln -- nice place... small-town kinda feel... nice people. There's at least one cool HD shop there (Frontier HD -- it's an older shop that has been assimilated by the Madison Avenue approach, but none-the-less, nice shop)

Was there last year in June, and will be again in mid-June on the way to Omaha. Lincoln, NE (as I'm sure you will be happy to know) is the competitive Roller Skating Capital of the known Universe!! (woo hoo... ) Nationals is in Omaha this year, but was in Lincoln the last couple.

Not too far from Kansas City -- the HD Powertrain Assembly Plant there is worth the trip. Nice roads, rolling, lots (lots) of corn growin'.

Have fun!

Regards,

/keith

Your're going to have to tell me your interests, if you just want to drink beer you can go anywhere including NE (stay out of Sarpy county...Bad, Bad place!) Here's a link to WI events http://www.wistravel.com/events_in_w...vents_june.htm The June Sprints at the end of June are pretty cool but you're looking at early June...let me know what you're looking for and I'll see what I can dig up, the fact is there is ALWAYS some kind of festival going on around WI somewhere and they are generally an all around good time, look at the 8-10 in Elroy, WI I've never been but it looks like something that can't be a bad thing.

Was in Lincoln last July with the family for the Roller Skating Figure Nationals. Both of my kids are national level competitors. Toured the Capital building, which is awesome and has a small observation deck near the top. Also spent a couple evenings in the Historic Hay Market District - lots of very cool restaurants and bars with quite a few bikes around.

The Strategic Air Command museum is also very cool if you are into planes and history. It is between Lincoln and Omaha.

Frontier H-D was just finishing up their new digs when I was there and it should be open by now. It is just west of downtown Lincoln right off of I-80.

Beware of the parking Nazi's in downtown Lincoln though. They tried to f@#!
me over with a couple of bogus tickets - still had time on the meter too! They give you two free passes if you are from out of county and believe me you'll burn those up fast if your not careful.

Have a great trip!

I haven't yet been here but from what I've seen in magazines it's worth the visit.

Make sure you check their operating hours as they are a little restrictive.
