1982 FXRS one owner!

1982 harley FXRS Commemorative model, one owner, bought new. 6/82. Original black paint, gold stripes, red lettering. Seat, bars, 9 spoke mags and all chassis is factory original. Koni full adjustable shocks, progressive springs in front, stock height, Engine is 113" S&S evo. V&H straight shots, dyna 2000 single fire ignition, zippers G2 carb, Baker close ratio 5 speed in the harley box, upgraded to 87 up release, rivera pro clutch, chain drives F&R new chains HD front tsubaki o-ring sigma rear, new Dunlop tires, chrome PM 4 piston brakes front and rear, dual front, Russell drilled rotors, braided stainless hoses and cables, chrome billet forward controls, if it's not chassis or sheet metal, it's chrome. Bike is mild mannered enough to ride daily or go cross country, it is wearing historic plates, or twist the throttle hard, and hold on, lol, it's quick, has a top end in the high 140's mph. It is the most fun bike I have ever ridden, and I have ridden everything. Reason for sale is my health, I haven't ridden much lately, and I'm not going to get well. the bike is the prime example of what an FXR should be.no wobbles, shakes shimmies, just solid, and quick, agile in the twisties, cruises effortlessly all the upgrades are less than 6000 miles old. Looking for a reasonable offer, this bike is complete and need nothing, turnkey ride, add gas and go.

Fairshake wants to know Dino or Syn?
tall terry, I would first wish you a good outcome for your health issues. I can relate 100% as I have a pain pump implanted for giving my spinal fluid a 24/7 doesage of Dilaudid for pain. I have 4 vertibrae that are bone to bone with no tissue between them. I'm also an insulin dependant Diabetic who has to have 3 injections a day. My last big problem is that I have a collapsed diaphragm which causes me to only breathe with one lung. I have to have oxygen at different times of the day.
Despite all of this, I've been able to keep riding until just a few months ago for some unknown reason. I woke one morning and have had a very hard time walking and keeping my balance. I had just finished doing the 97" S&S Big Bore with headwork and cams. I'm just about to go nuts from not riding as I started in 1961 on motor scooters. I'm too poor at this time to make my bike into a trike so that I m can ride again. I've never felt bad about not having money until lately. I'm going to say a prayer for you and maybe with some help we can get you on that bike again. Later Fairshake

Sounds like an awesome bike Terry, can you put up some pics?
I have a few friends back in Ky I could pass it on to, maybe they or someone they know would be interested.
Sounds like a bike I'd love to own but I'm too far away and new house broke.
Sorry to hear of your health issues preventing you from riding it, must have been a tough call to let her go.

For some reason I cannot post pics, if you email me I have some I can send and thanks for the good thoughts, I do/dont want to sell, I made it for me, hopefully someone sees what this is and wants A ready to ride super nice bike, I won't even go into what I have in it, but it did not matter, it was my every day ride, it draws a crowd everywhere I go with it, the antique plates throw many off it looks new but has historic plates. Lol

Here's the rest of the pics, I'd buy this bike in a heartbeat if I was shopping or even had the cash on hand.
Good luck Terry.

TT.....how about throwing a number out here for us to mull over? What you have to get for it and what it will actually bring on the market are usually two completely different numbers in my experience. An '82 is still an '82 no matter what's been done to it and since the the original shovel motor is gone your gonna have to kinda set the market if you will.

Gorgeous bike

Probably a good idea, even if you start high it'll give prospective buyers a baseline starting point and you'll know by response if you are near the ballpark or not.

Well thanks everyone. It's hard to put a price on. I have over 30K in it as it sits, I had no intention of selling it. Now, back to the real world, I do appraisals as part of my everyday activities for insurance companies on rare, unusual, and non catalogued motorcycles. If i give a value, that is the value assigned to that particular vehicle. Mine is listed in the NADA At $12,525, in its condition, so, as not to be biased because it's my bike, I had an adjuster associate look at it, his appraisal is 4 out of 4 on the insurance scale, so, the only vehicles rated higher than the 4 of 4 rating are brand new sitting on the showroom floor. His opinion was it is worth as much as a new similar vehicle, that would be a FXD series. I'm thinking start at NADA and see where it goes. Like I said i am open to a reasonable offer, the NADA is available at no cost online. Not having the shovelhead engine is a huge plus if you intend to ride the bike rather than look at it. FYI the shovel was a high strung stroker and much quicker than the 113. Lol again thanks for all the well wishes, and compliments on the bike.

Fair share, I'm sending a prayer your way also, I hope you can get back in the saddle again soon. I did a trike for a paraplegic friend/customer a few years back, it was slick. you should have seen his face when I delivered it, that was worth a million dollars to me. And thank you all again for the prayers, I'm relatively sure I'll never ride again, or the bike would not be for sale
