Okay guys i'd appreciate it if you would help me find a good home for my Sporty. I purchased this bike a couple of years ago. Had a lot of fun customizing and riding it but now it just sits [lonely] in the corner most days. I have an 09 SG that i ride most of the time and an 03 Heritage that will always be by my side. Bottom line is i don't NEED to sell this bike but would like to see it ridden more so i'm considering offers. I have personally maintained this bike and it runs and looks better than new. I wouldn't be afraid to ride it anywhere. I had the custom paint done after i purchased the bike and it is still "show" quality.
Here's are the details and pics:
2000 model XLS 1200 Sportster. Bike has 15,600 miles. Professionally ridden and maintained. If you are not familiar with the S (Sport) model then do some research. This bike came from the factory with special multi-adjustable front and rear shocks, dual plug cylinders, hot cam, and 10 to 1 compression. The Sport model was last produced in 2003 and is getting very hard to find. If you are a fan of the Sportster then this is the one to own. I highly doubt you will find another Sport model this nice for this price. The bike runs/shifts/rides like new and the paint is flawless. You will not be disappointed. Includes the following upgrades:
§ Checkered flame custom paint
§ Thunderheader exhaust
§ Arlen Ness Big Sucker air cleaner
§ Mikuni Carburetor with proper jetting
§ Ness mirrors
§ Black slotted levers
§ Front and rear bullet turn signals
§ New front Avon tire – rear tire is also practically new
§ Custom Corbin solo seat
§ Detachable HD backrest
§ Detachable windshield by Memphis Shades
§ HD custom grips
§ Billet lay-down license plate
§ Smoked lay-down tail light
§ Stock 2-up seat included
Some people tend to shy away from the older Sporties because they don’t have the rubber mounted engines like the new ones. Hawg wash! Yes, the older [solid mounted] engines do have more vibration but only at higher RPMs. On this bike, you do get some good vibration above 3500 RPMs, but you are usually only in that zone for a couple of seconds if you are getting on it. In 5th gear, you can comfortably cruise at 75 mph all day.
As for price, Kelly Blue Book lists the retail price for the bike at $5545. Of course this is for a stock 2000 XLS. My bike has approx. $4000 in upgrades. I will sell this bike for $6000. If you can find an XLS with similar upgrades for less then buy it.
