Two Presidential Motorcade Officers Down
Did anyone see this story from yesterday? Two motorcyle escorts went down yesterday in Hawaii on rain-slick roads.

Couple of Keystone cops fall down...Maybe now they'll stop preaching about how much better they think they ride than the rest of us.
Other than that...Whatever.

If you think you ride as well as any officer that rides escort on a motorcade, I'd have to invite you to prove it. Actually, if you had those skills you'd have never posted what you did.
In the entire time I've participated on this forum, I've never before - that's right NOT ONE TIME - referrred to another member in a negative way. Perhaps you'll feel honored to be the first.
You're a prick who doesn't have the first ****ing clue what he's talking about.

I'm going to assume Godzilla didn't intend his comment to be taken literally or even to be disrespectful although it obviously was (especially in the presence of the other officers).
If three sport bike crashed, or 3 SUV's, or 3 fishing boats; we would hear lots of smart ass comments, and some people would find it humorous. I'm guessing he was trying to emulate this kind of spoof.
These officers were injured while performing their civic duties and they deserve out utmost respect for it.

I don't usually pass judgement, and I am not the biggest fan of cops although I have some friends who are "on the job", this guy is a dick, anyone who goes down on a bike cop or 1%'er and anywhere in between should not be made fun of what if it was you ass**le, you would be whining on this forum "oh my chrome is scratched, my leg is broken, oh poor me, shut the f**k, up and be happy it wasn't you.
happy thanksgiving

Harris, well said.
Godzilla, use this moment to learn.
Escorting a presidential motorcade is one of the most difficult things to do because you cannot let the Presidents car stop moving, EVER! It cannot be allowed to sit still and become a "fixed target". Because it is a presidential motorcade, the route taken is NEVER THE SAME, and is never revealed until just before driving off. Motors are used to clear traffic up ahead, and hold traffic up behind. The motor officers are always moving, stopping to hold traffic, speeding up ahead in a leap frog manner, and slowing down. It is really over aggressive riding. One motor cop told me he over heated the brakes on his bike till the front mater cylinder boiled over. The HPD accident occured at the entrance to the airbase. As riders we all know that places like that is where you will find pooled oil and anti-freeze from cars waiting in line at the guards gate. It was raining, so chances are the rain water lifted the oil and antifreeze off the ground and made it real slipperly. I could see how a fast moving motorcycle could go down in those conditions.
A veteran motorcop once told me about an accident he had escorting former President Reagens motorcade to the airport. His job was to hold up traffic, let the motorcade pass, and then catch up from behind. He admits he was a young and aggressive rider. While catching up, his Kawasaki got up to speed a little faster than he expected. He went down and hit the back end of the Secret Service Suburban. He ended up in the head trauma unit at UCLA Medical Center in serious condition.
President Reagen held Air Force One on the tarmac at the airport, and would not take off until he heard from the attending physician that the officer would recover.

I was at the St. Louis Thanksgiving Day parade today and my day was made even before the parade reached us just by seeing the St. Louis PD officers on their pristine spotless vivid black FLHTPI's.
I am visiting from Roswell, GA where the department rides blue/silver TPI's. Saw them practicing a few weeks ago at the Honda Rider Center in Alpharetta and saw the spot with the cones where the left lock then right lock doughnut is done. I remember the spot from when I took the BRC in March 2005 and recall thinking there is no way to turn an Electra Glide in that small a space. That day a couple of weeks ago I saw everyone of those motor officers do it--amazing.
For my money, nobody rides a touring bike more capably than a motor officer.
As for the idiot's remark about "keystone cops," his anonymity will probably shield him from responsibility and consequences, especially the next time he needs a LEO at an accident scene, home break-in, etc. for himself or someone he gives a damn about.

Well . . .
Harris, the guy's a prick. . . . . . considers himself an outlaw motorcyclist (stated in his posts on other forums here on V-Twin). I have no idea what he's doing here on the Safety forum . . . he obviously already knows everything about everything and has no respect for anyone except other "outlaws".
His "Keystone Cops" remark to describe a motorcyclist that is down and seriously injured is certainly no joke to me.

I don't have a problem with you having a personal issue with cops, as you clearly do. (But keep in mind especially in the safety forum, you have alot of cops who are offering safety help and tips. And so you're not making any friends.)
However, you question the riding ability of motorcops. This will not fly. Your position shows an overwhelming ignorance of the training standards met by every motorcop out there. Having first hand experience with some of the cone patterns of the police course, I can promise you that any motorcop can turn and brake a Harley in ways that you wouldn't believe and at a level well beyond the average rider. It ain't bragging if it's true! In fact, the difference in skill level is so significant, that you have to see it apprecate it.
Many people like you, will write in this forum expecting sympathy for your wrecks which are clearly a result of rider error. Everyone jumps in to support your blaming of the road or the bike. But when a cop goes down, you're feeling is: "screw him!" Let's hope the cop who responds to you in your time of need is not as immature in his attitude towards you. Heck, he'll probably even listen to you whine about how it's not your fault. But then, that's the difference in a professional who respects another rider.
Please discuss safety related items. I don't think you'll find much support of cop bashing here.
