practice: disc cones

This looks like a good deal: http://www.kwikgoal.com/product_6A10.html

Harris said these are the type he uses...

Jimbo,

Excellent find! That price is better than what I've found at stores, where they seem to always be sold in packages of four.

These are great for practicing, because a stack fit easily in a saddlebag, versus "real" cones, which are a pain to transport on a motor.

Looks like a guy could easily drill a hole in the top to make 'em easier to pick up too.

Harris: I have your training program. How many cones are needed to set up a course per your program?

Jimbo,
Thanks for the link. It's too cold here now to do much more than practice Harris's drills for an hour anyway.

If you bought that set of 25, that would give you plenty to set up the exercises outlined in the booklet. To set up the Slow-Cones per the diagram takes 8 cones, and the off-set takes 22.

I think they do have a hole in them (doesn't come across well in the photo). If you look at the "carrier" they sell for them, they are all stacked up on a spindle through the middle.

I use tennis balls cut in half. Bought several tubes of them on sale very cheap. They dont stack, but they do pack well in a saddlebag over to the practice lot.

Mine were just shipped - I'll let you know when I get them.

As you can see, there is a hole in the middle. The thing that surprised me is how thin they are. I was originally worried about hitting a hard plastic cone, but not anymore!

No problem. Mine are on the shelf in the garage for the winter. I'll be using them, and hopefully teaching my girlfriend and son at the same time... Practice makes perfect (or at least a lot less scratches on my bike!)
