Dayum makes me think I should be wearing my full face helmet all the time. I usually opt for the HD 1/2 helmet and from the looks of that visor that would not have been alot of help to the old kisser.

I've always believed in your right to not wear a helmet. But if you do choose to wear one, you might as well go for the full face. That's all I've ever worn. The weight is about the same, and you get a nifty shield out of the deal. I figure if I'm going to the trouble of wearing one, then the soft tissues in my face need as much protection as my brain. I'm about the only guy I ever see on a Harley with a fullface, but I don't care.
Looking at that face shield damage picture, it's scary to think what his nose, eyes, teeth, etc, could look like right now......

In Aus helmets are compulsory. The vast majority of Harley riders wear black open face helmets. I am an exception to that rule. When visiting New Zealand all the Harley riders seemed to wear black full face helmets.
I do not like eating bugs or wearing bandanas and I figure I'm ugly enough without having to sport a rebuilt face. I've always worn a full face helmet and I reckon the look you get from motorists as they see themselves in the mirrored visor is priceless.

Wife and I both wear Shoei's, mine is full face. The particular model I have could use a little more peripheral vision, but I heard they fixed that.
I completely support 'choice' about wearing helmets.
That having been said, I cannot imagine riding without one, or with a 'novelty' type.

I have a full face Shoei that I wear nearly all the time now.
I haven't shaved the beard off in over 25 years since I don't want to look
at the scars (are they still there?) from a fall with a 3/4 helmet.
(didn't realize my face had hit the pavement till the next day when
I touched my chin)
I don't like helmets but I choose to wear them.

Thought I was the only one, I use a flip-front Shoei and have no clue if there are scars from rash or not from a minor no-helmet front tire wash-out. Been married for over 26 years and the wife and kids don't know either.
Time for a new helmet when they are that damaged. The "foam" has been compressed and protected the grey matter.

I like your white helmet.
I've been threatening to paint my helmets white. I understand that they're easier to notice. In fact, I have a picture of about 14 friends in staggered formation, taken from behind. One is wearing a white helmet. His helmet is the first detail seen in the picture.

I'm an absolute believer in full face helmets! I used to wear the little stupid beanie helmet just to keep the cops from bothering me. I had a full face for winter riding since it snows here and gets damned cold. I got so used to wearing the full face that I tossed the beanie and wear only the good "hat" Now.
Besides...NOBODY looks cool in a beanie, They just think they do.

Ken,
That is exactly why I went with white. When driving a truck, I always try to look out for bikes. I make it a game to try to spot a bike coming down the road from as far away as possible. I have found those running all three lights help alot. But above all else, anybody with a white helmet really sticks out in traffic to my eye. Alot of it seems to be the height. That helmet is even higher than the roof of most cars. Even though bikes are harder to see than cars, a white helmet can be seen when the bike is 4 or 5 cars deep in traffic. This is really dramatic at dusk. If you ever get the chance watch two riders at dusk, one with a white helmet, and one with a black or no helmet. Try to keep sight of them as they pull away from you. You'll find that you can still see that white helmet floating along even after you can't even see the actual motorcycles. The difference in how fast you might notice a vehicle is like the difference between led and standard lights on a big truck. Notice how the newer led's really grab your attention when they first turn on?
Now, to really stand out at night, I cut up some DOT C-2 conspiquity tape. I had some left over from my trailer. I used the silver portion and cut it into small strips. It's along the side of and rear of the helmet. This is the red/silver tape on the sides and rear of big trucks. It really works! The good thing is that in the daytime, the silver blends in with the helmet color so it doesn't look rediculous. Most people wouldn't even notice it. But at night a car's headlights will light this stuff up from a 1/4 mile away!
If you're interested, I could take some day/night pictures of the helmet.
