Question 2 up and 1 foot

Ok, when riding 2 up and coming to a full stop, should one keep the right foot up and on the brake OR put both feet down?

Depends on how large the passenger is I ussually just put down my left foot except when she is mounting or dimounting

The trick to being able to use one foot with a passenger is to have the passenger steady while the motor is stopped. Instead of just saying "Keep still", which invariable elicits the response "I am", I tell passengers to always look forward over my left shoulder at stops. this has the effect of telling them to keep still, but gives them somethign particular to do (i.e. Participate) rather than just a general instruction.

My wife must be the perfect passenger. I don't notice that she is back there except when she is praying out loud that we don't die... she also occasionally resorts to Lamaze pant-blows.

I just brake as usual (front/rear) and then put both feet down with the front brake held as the feet go down.

When my OL gets nervous riding 2-up, she gets real gassy in back.
I hear pant-blows too, but I thought she was just trying to hide the smell.

Okay. First. You're always suppose to do that.
Second. I come to a complete stop with both brakes. Drop the left foot, then drop the right. I can tell a huge difference in stopping distance when I just use the front brake.

IMOVHO this is a day to day thing 1 up or 2 up -- for the most part I am a 1 foot down rider, but if there is a cross wind of 20 miles an hour 2 feet are more apropriate for my size. Im 5-10 155 lbs. It is IMOVHO safer to use 1 foot in an emergency take off situation. ( Thank god I haven't had to ever do that) I also feel that it is a smoother transition from a total stop to forward motion useing 1 foot. I observe many riders and it seems to me that the riders who use 1 foot are actually better and safer riders than the ones I have observed using 2 feet. That may be a biased observation. Im not sure. I do know this though, the ones who use 1 foot always seem to be the modest just ride safe guys/gals, not taking chances and always scanning the roads they ride.

I'm a one-foot down stopper . . . .

But when Judy is on the back, I revert to both feet down. (in 1st gear and holding the clutch in, of course). It doesn't take much lean and my left leg will not be able to keep the bike from tipping over onto the engine bar with Judy on the back. She doesn't particularly like it when the bike begins a slow-motion lay down. "If you do that again, I'm not getting back on!"

Oh well. I do my best.

I've tipped over three times with her on the back; each time were stops on a slanted road or with a slight dip where my left foot should plant. To get my left foot planted, the bike had to lean a few degrees more than I could handle. Over we go.

It's really not that big of a deal. I'm fully capable of righting the motor without assistance; but she has helped each time anyway. (after she frowns at me with that look that says, "Can't you do any better than that?").
All I can say is, "I'm glad we've been married 38 years; else I might be in real trouble."
