Sometimes you don't even Have to be riding

MURPHY'S LAW APPLIES HERE.
I dont care how many times or ways you try and ride defensively,a cager will thoughtlessly or unconciously come up with a way to rain on your parade. Check this out:

This past weekend, We took a ride that ended up making some of my worst imagined fears,a reality.I loaded up the rods and reels, folding chairs and tackle into the bike trailer to try fishing on the C&D Canal again. Only this time it was off of a pier below the 896/301 bridge north of Middletown,De. We were there for almost 3 hours and only got a couple of nibbles and the skies clouded up and got dark so we decided to split. On the way back, the skies cleared again and got sunny. As we passed a produce stand,Shirley made a remark about wanting some tomatoes. The road was designed so that if you didnt pull off ahead of time, you'd have to go thru a major intersection and pull a U-turn then go back past the produce stand and pull another U-turn.
I opted for pulling into an adjacent convinience store and pulled around to the side and parked the rig for an easy out when we went to leave and away from the regular traffic flowing in and out of the store. We had a smoke and I walked with her to the stores sidewalk and stopped there. Shirley asked if I was coming also. I told her there were 2 alternatives. One was to load back up and do the dbl U-turn thing I previously described or I would stay here and watch the bike and she could go herself because, I didnt trust being that far away and out of sight of the bike. She chose the latter plan. The stand was probably a good 200 foot walk and I knew she wouldn't be long I stepped back to the bike and watched 3 vehicles swoop into the store all driven by pairs of black women that obviously knew each other as they all got out of their respective vehicles and began a high-pitched,soul sista' bullshit session. I ignored them and watched the traffic go by.
About 5 minutes later, four of the black women got into two of the vehicles and left, leaving the last two women still yacking and their faces were directed at my position the whole time. Now,wether or not they acknowledged my presence,is another thing entirely. I was only 30 feet away from them.I went back to watching traffic as it pulled away from the red lights and some bikes slowing down to look at the rig and waving back at them when they would wave. I look up and suddenly the red Dodge Neon with the last two black women in it, is backing straight at me,not even looking behind them.I see this and realize at the same time, that they arent going to stop and are inches from hitting the bike. I jumped over the trailer tounge and landed on her bumper with my left foot and stomping my right foot on top of her trunk, shouting for her to stop. They made contact with the bike knocking it and me over backwards onto the ground. As I am falling, I see the 4"x4" curb painted white, in line with the spot I am going to crash land at and I try to break my fall with my right hand so my head doesnt smack the curb. I jumped up and the women have frozen, not knowing what they have just done. They know it was a bad thing because as I jumped up I kicked the car again and screamed at them to, "get the hell off of the motorcycle now!" Unbelieveably, they still havent moved. I start to walk around and yell into the window because I am beyond irate now,and they pull forward, away from the bike and I scream at them to get the hell out of here now becasue they just had no idea what I wanted to do to their car but I was so outraged at the fact that they carelessly, and mindlessly backed into the bike, I knew something had to happen to make an impression on this idiot drivers mind regarding motorcycle awareness for future references.I was probably wasting my time and energy anyway. Stupid is as stupid does.
As they sat there, obviously stunned,Shirley walked around the corner of the store, probably not believeing her eyes at the sight that was before her. I stood on the "up-side" drivers footboard and stuck my ass way out as if a counterbalance on a sailboat and enabled Shirley to lift the bike by the right handgrip. At the same time a man in a pick up truck pulled up to a sliding stop and asked if I needed help picking the bike up but, I already had it on the side stand again and those clueless women were still sitting in their car,2 feet away from me. In my minds eye,I saw myself, an irrational madman, ready to knock all the windows out of the car. I once again screamed a 10 foot long stream of expletives at them and told them to get the hell out of there. They turned a little bit to the right and the passenger window came down 1/2 way and the driver leaned across and in a tiny voice said,"I'm sorry". I screamed at her that the next time she even sees a motorcycle she had better open her eyes and be aware. I never threatened or told them what I wanted to do to them. I practiced extreme restraint, none like I've even done before. They finally drove off, obviously still in a state of confusion. I checked the bike over for damage and once again, I thank the front crashbar for saving the tanks and fairing. The right footboard was slightly bent upwards but I stomped it back down. The fork that locks down the trailer hitch to the ball was slightly twisted also but not enough to cause any saftey or performance issues.Funny this is, I didnt get any stress or anxiety out of the whole ordeal because I trully wanted to flip that little red car over and set fire to it.
