Just because they are looking at you....

Doesn't mean they see you. I know it has been said a thousand times before but I am saying it again. I was cruising down a street today doing about 40. This lady in a white import car is looking straight at me and makes a left turn right in front of me without even hesitating. I lock em up because I am literally right on top of her. She glides right into the parking lot, oblivious to the fact that I am fighting to stay out of the hospital. Thank GOD she didn't see me after she started her turn or she might have hit her brakes. As it was, I skidded and fishtailed and leaned etc. etc. managing to keep the bike upright and just missed clipping her back bumper with my right knee. I ran it around the block and yelled some stupid stuff at the emptyheaded beeootch that made me feel better. I honestly don't know if she even knew why I was yelling at her but there were a lot of people in the vicinity that I like to think filled it in for her.

Be safe everybody because they really are all out to get us.

I know exactly what you mean.

Are they looking at you? Or just waiting until you get closer to pull out in front of you?

Ride Safe,
Vettster

Like to respond to your story JBB, same situation, but happened to my brother and his Heritage. Lady pulled out, he was doing 40, could not go around her unless he wanted to hit a car head on. He layed the bike down and from what I understand sandwiched his leg on the soft part of the door. He walked away with road rash and a badly swollen leg, nothing broken. Lady said she never saw his lights (6:00 am in the morning). I think about these situations all the time, now having two young kids. It really pisses me off when people feel that the bike will stop for them.

Frank- The bike WILL stop the car. Just depends on how abruptly, and how where on/in/around the cage.

Yeah, she saw you, but remember rule #2: Cagers don't like us.

for review:
#1. Cagers can't see us
#2. Cagers don't LIKE us
#3. If cager DOES see us, see rule #2.

I really don't mean to sound trite, but its true. Glad, JBB, that you managed to clear her. Been there, done that, only I didn't fare as well. It hurt, alot. I've since adopted the rules. So far, so good. But I still don't let my guard down.
