Buick meets Rocker at 50mph
I was sitting still on my bike on a two lane road waiting to turn onto a side street on my way to my shop last Wednesday and a cage rear-ended me running 45 to 50 mph. I saw him closing on me just in time to dump the clutch. I walked out of the hospital after 4 hours with a broken thumb, slight fracture in my right shoulder, road rash on my right elbow and a sore right ankle, today I am still sore but progressing well. My O8 Rocker did not fair so well. People can say what they want about the Rocker but that is one tough bike. It took all the force so I did not have to. Moral of the story is don't stop to turn on a two lane and watch your mirror. figue it out but be careful.

Welcome Aboard
Sounds like you saved yourself from more serious damage by being alert.
Good Job

I am glad that you came home the same day. Bikes can be fixed or replaced, it is a little harder for you.

Dumping the clutch most likely saved you along stay in the hospital.

Thanks for all the good wishes. Looks like I will be able to have the bike repaired. I'm considering replacing the stock fender with the Rocker conversion from Heartland. They have a fender with a frenched in tail light and plate. Extra tail light cannot be bad since the Rocker only has the two teardrop LED stop/turn lights. Any input on the Heartland products would be appreciated........

Good job with the being alert and the clutch.
One important safety item I preach, leave your bike in first gear when stopped. What happened to you is the exact reason. If you're sitting in neutral, there's no time to react.
Someone was definitely watching over you when it happened.

Wow you are one lucky person. You could have been hurt real bad or killed. I just wrecked my bike two months ago and it was totaled as the repair bill was over $16,000. Glad you pretty much walked away from it.

Thanks to all who replied. I appreciate the good wishes. When I made the post my reasoning was to get the message across to always watch your surroundings. A jpilone mentioned above, I was in first gear and ready to make a move. I now realize just how important that is. Thanks again for your thoughts and well wishes and don't let what happened to me happen to you! Can't wait to be able to enjoy the ride again!!!!

This is a good time to mention the need for stop light modulators. It helps wake up the A--holes behind you. Good thing you were quick to act.
